I'd never even had an iPod.

I didn't see what all the fuss was, but when my Mrs kindly gave my lovely Sony Erricsson W880i a swimming lesson at our Xmas party, I found myself in the market for a new mobile.

My brother Adam had bought an iPhone just before Xmas, and had said it was about the best gadget that he had ever had.  He'd said that this gadget had 1 thing that stood out over other gadgets, it was actually useful!  Sure enough, I'd go along with that.... the best gadget I've ever had also.

Maybe its not just the phone, the tariff helps to, as much internet as you can possibly use, so there is no worry about running yourself a £50 just because you've checked the footy scores and looked to see what was on at the cinema.

iPhone Many View John Appleseed Johnny Appleseed Dr Appleseed

On a side note, we've all found it hilarious that the guy that always rings the iPhone is called John Appleseed.  Don't know why, you probably agree, its not even funny, but anyway.  Dave Mitchell found it good enough that he even tried to change his XBox 360 gamer tag to 'Jonny Appleseed' but all combinations had gone.  As a result, Mitch became 'Dr Appleseed' of Team [LAME] Fame.  He even like to shout out 'There's A Doctor In The House' when he shoots you down.

I'm really impresses with all the 'Add-Ons' the for the iPhone and the new versions they bring out regularly.  The most impressive so far is the BBCi Player www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer - just browse to that site on your iPhone, then add the link using the '+' button to your homescreen and away you go, its like having Sky+ on your mobile :) Awesome.

One the things I'm asked it how to upload images to facebook from your iPhone? It's amazingly simple.  Just email your picture to mobile@facebook.com it really is as easy as that.  Once you have done that, facebook will email you the details of how to progress from there.

The facebook application is great also, its just a cut down faster version of the real thing, but you can simply click once to get to the full site.  The best use of it is updating your 'status', so when you're sat about waiting for things to happen you can let everyone know (Very useful I'm sure!) often resulting in things like:

bulletTim Clixby is bored.
bulletTim is waiting to go to the pub.
bulletTim Clixby is hung over.
bulletTim is going to bed early.
bulletTim  Clixby is feeling much better after some rest.
iPhone side view clixby With being a big fan of the XBox 360, I've got a link on my iPhone homepage to xbox.com, very useful when waiting to finish work and get home, I know who's on and what's being played without even having to put my XBox on - Isn't technology just great!

I've also got lovefilm tagged on my homepage, it's great to have so close to hand, as you can be in work, in the pub etc discussing a film or TV series and simply add it to your list of things to watch.  Rather than having to remember it for when you get home, which lets face it, never happens.

As good as it is having lots of music with me all the time, its the podcasts that I enjoy the most.  I only subscribe to a few:
bulletAchievement Junkies
bulletGamerscore Blog
bulletBest Of You Tube
bulletMajor Nelson
bulletRicky Gervais

But I'm really impressed by them all, I find myself looking forward to 'next weeks episode' and listen to them more than I do the music I've got on it.

Because the iPhone supports video podcasts, you get some great stuff to watch to.  There was a superb one on the 'Best Of You Tube' podcasts called 'Frozen Grand Central', well worth watching, I wish I'd thought of that!
